Baby Milestones

More new products! It's been a busy month and I'm so pleased to be sharing new work with you. These are my Baby Milestone Postcards, which are brand new and available through my Etsy shop. I am so pleased with this finished result and I've had some lovely feedback so far..

These illustrative baby milestone postcards capture your baby’s first year in weeks, months and exciting events.

The Baby Milestone postcards by Emily Atherton are hand-illustrated and digitally printed cards that help you celebrate the wonderful milestones of a baby’s first year, that are bound to put a smile on your face! Each card has been illustrated with beautiful detail so you can document all that is important to you and your baby through a selection of photographs.

The A6 milestone card is printed onto 280gsm high-quality card, with a gloss finish, a perfect weight for postcards. It offers beautiful quality printing and allows you write on the back if necessary.
The designs are fun and colourful and gender neutral. They would be a wonderful gift for a new parent and a great way to tell a story of your baby's first year in the world.

New Products!

I am looking forward to the winter months rolling in now, I'm ready for big socks and cosy jumpers! Autumn also sees the release of some new products from me and I am very excited to showcase them across my blog, social media and also at a few local craft fairs I will be attending in the coming months.

First of all, I got the delivery of some lovely illustrated coasters. I have been focusing on my style of drawing recently and decided I love the intricacy of a fine pen and using Illustrator to add colour. I have also introduced a fresh, Scandi theme that runs throughout many of my new products. These are the coasters, which I will be selling as a pack of 4 across my Etsy shop, https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/EmilyKateAtherton?ref=search_shop_redirect and in my local gift shop, Gifts For Me and You

Tonic Tutorials - Heart Layering Dies

Working in another job means that my time for crafting is sometimes quite limited to evenings... When I get started with using the Tonic products though, I don't want to stop! After having a few of my own shows on Create and Craft, it has given me the opportunity to create cards and explore ideas with the wonderful Tonic products. I am still learning how to 'be an expert' but I am thoroughly enjoying the whole process! For those of you that don't watch Create and Craft, it is a platform to showcase the products and to demonstrate innovative ideas for how to use them. There is an inspiring team of designers and hard workers from the office, that make working with Tonic such a great experience.

I have had the time and opportunity to experiment with some of the products and wanted to share with you my finished projects. You may have seen me demonstrating the Simply Screens Christmas dies, however, I wanted to share a project today using the layering dies, which are perfect, essential shapes for your craft collections. Here is one I created this week using the heart dies. Using a really nice combination of colours means that you can use the essential die across a number of occasions and ages.

I began with a white card blank that measured approx. 11.5 x 21cm. I then cut about 2cm in from the edge of the front layer of the card.

To create the simple heart composition, I used the 1459e - Traditional Heart Layering Basics Die Set, and chose a combination of sizes that would fit the size of the card. This was mainly using the smallest - mid size hearts in the die pack. I then cut these using the Tangerine machine from white card stock. I began to assemble these into position, being quite free but ensuring the edge of the hearts did not reach past the edge of the card underneath.

Before sticking down, I began introducing colour by cutting the hearts again from patterned card stock, and using the size below whatever the white had been cut from. I continued this until all the hearts were covered with patterned and co-ordinating coloured paper, with a theme emerging and I decided which ones would overlap but keeping a straight edge all the time. I then stuck these into position using the funky glue pen from Tonic.

At this point, I finished off with some Nuvo Crystal and Glitter Drops from Tonic in colours 'Bubblegum Blush' and 'Midnight Sky'. I also used the Nuvo double-ended pen - number 449 - to hand-draw a cute ribbon giving the card and extra bit of detail and dimension.

Tea-towels!

Alongside my new crafty adventures, I have continued to work on creating patterns and prints for home decor and stationery items. This is something I have a huge passion for and I want to continue working on building new collections. This is just a reminder about the tea-towels I have created, which are now available to buy in the beautiful gift shop in Wirral, 'Gifts For Me and You' and also on my Etsy page..

Tonic Studios - Create and Craft

It's been a very busy few weeks but I am so pleased that I have joined the design and presenting team for Tonic Studios - a very reputable brand in the craft industry with tons of experience and fabulous designs. My new role will be a guest presenter on the Create and Craft channel, demonstrating their wonderful products and (hopefully) doing a brilliant job of promoting new releases. It has already been a lot of fun working with the team and collaborating ideas, as well as, working alongside some of the most well-known names in the industry.

I have already been involved in a few of the live shows and, although I was very nervous, it has been a truly brilliant experience so far and one that I can't wait to continue. I will be sharing my experiences and projects throughout social media and using this as a platform to showcase the great new products from Tonic. I can't wait to hear what you all think and thanks so much to everyone so far that has supported me on this new journey!

Craft Workshops

I have also been involved with the local shop Gifts For Me and You, supporting some of their events and expanding their shop and businesses. I was asked to host a kids craft workshop party and it was a great success. I chose a project that meant they had something to take away and it was so nice to hear lovely feedback from the kids and adults alike. Crafting has always been enjoyable for me and I love seeing others getting involved and being creative!

Stationery

I have been lucky enough to see some of my dreams become a reality in the past couple of months and I am looking forward to some new adventures very soon.

We have the most beautiful weekend watching my older sister get married and I was over the moon and honoured to be a part of helping her day be everything she wished for! Everyone did their bit and I was in charge of stationery and any other creative input. I was really pleased with the outcome of everything I contributed for their day and we had some lovely comments on how personal the whole day felt!

I love being able to share my creativity with others to make them a personal gift or something that they will always appreciate.

I have also been lucky enough to see some of my patterned products come to life which has been a great experience. I have used a number of patterns and created notebooks, memo pads and even tea-towels to showcase in a local shop! So pleased with this outcome and I hope it continues to build a lovely network of creatives.
